Must have worked for either: 2 years at RA II / RA III level, and/or 2 years at RA I level and 1 year at RA II level, and/or 3 years at RA I level. Having at least two original research papers in SCI and/or a peer-reviewed journal; preference to candidates with more than two publications in a SCI indexed journal. Prior demonstrated experience of working in experimental optics and/or experimental atomic and molecular physics. Prior demonstrated experience with precision laser spectroscopy / laser cooling / ion trapping / atom trapping and related areas. Experience with supervision of PhD/Masters students and/or postdoctoral candidates at RA I/RA II level. Good knowledge (M.Sc. Physics and PhD level) in more than one of: Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics. Electronics. Quantum Mechanics. Quantum Optics. Electromagnetic Theory. Atomic and laser spectroscopy. Finite Element Modelling and Simulation using COMSOL/ANSYS. Knowledge of ORCAD/EAGLE. Hands-on experimental exposure in AMOP experiments at PhD level. Experience in programming with at least one of: Python / MATLAB / Mathematica / VHDL / Verilog / LabVIEW / SolidWorks / COMSOL / ANSYS / digital & analog electronics / optics / fabrication. Exceptional candidates with a very strong publication record having only a theoretical background in light-matter interaction in warm atomic vapor / cold atom / ion trap systems and/or physics of cold atom / warm vapor quantum memories / repeaters, etc., will also be considered. Must demonstrate highest work ethics, commitment and dedication to the project, with good oral and written communication skills evident through peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations. General Information/Instructions Applications are invited from eligible Indian nationals for the Principal Project Scientist position in a time-bound sponsored project in the Department of Physics. The selected candidate will work on a multi-node quantum repeater network for entanglement distribution-based quantum communication. Nature of work includes: Research and development. Design and development of laser spectroscopy set-up. Data recording and documentation of research work. Critical analysis of experimental results. Assisting in associated experiments. Offline on-campus physical presence (remote work not possible). Supervision and mentoring of PhD research students and postdoctoral fellows. Attending meetings, workshops, conferences and presenting project outcomes. Preparation of peer-reviewed manuscripts. Preparation of administrative documents, progress reports, and assistance in procurement. Teaching responsibilities and supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students. Overall coordination of multiple work packages. The selected candidate will get opportunity to work on interdisciplinary areas such as simulation, design, fabrication, testing of instruments in lasers & optics, low-noise electronics, FPGA-based systems, ultra-high vacuum, mechanical and software development, neutral atom trapping, etc. The work involves laser cooling techniques with neutral rubidium (Rb) atoms, precision laser spectroscopy, experimental quantum optics and quantum information processing protocols, aiming to develop a cold atom quantum memory node for quantum repeater applications.
