Eligibility Criteria
Candidate must be a citizen of India.
Candidate must hold a graduate degree from a University incorporated by an Act of Central/State Legislature in India or an institution declared as a University under UGC Act 1956, or an equivalent qualification recognized by Chhattisgarh Government.
Candidates appearing in final qualifying examination or awaiting results may apply for Preliminary Examination, but must produce proof of passing the required degree before Main Examination application/within prescribed time.
Candidates with recognized professional and technical qualifications deemed equivalent to a degree by the State Government are also eligible.
For reserved category benefits (SC/ST/OBC non-creamy layer, PwD, women, ex-servicemen, etc.), candidate must be a local/native resident of Chhattisgarh and possess valid permanent caste and other relevant certificates.
Physical standards are prescribed for certain posts like Deputy Superintendent of Police, District Excise Officer, Assistant Jail Superintendent and others; candidates must ensure they meet these standards when opting for such posts.
Age Limit (as on 01-01-2025)
For Deputy Superintendent of Police (State Police Service): 21 to 28 years, with relaxations:
Up to 5 years relaxation in upper age limit for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) of Chhattisgarh.
Ex-servicemen of Chhattisgarh can deduct entire defence service period from actual age, subject to resulting age not exceeding upper limit by more than 3 years.
Certain categories of Government servants, retrenched employees, voluntary home guards, women (including widows/divorcees) and specific award holders get relaxations as detailed, but combined upper age not beyond prescribed maximum (generally 33 years for some service categories, plus notified relaxations).
For other posts (except Police Service): Generally 21 to 30 years; for local/native residents of Chhattisgarh, maximum age 35 years, with additional relaxation of 5 years for educated unemployed locals, subject to a ceiling of 45 years including all relaxations.
Persons with Benchmark Disabilities get 5 years relaxation in maximum age as per RPwD Act 2016 and relevant Government notifications.
Application Fee
For local/native residents of Chhattisgarh belonging to SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer) and Persons with Disabilities: Rs. 300/- as examination fee.
For all other categories and applicants from outside Chhattisgarh: Rs. 400/- as examination fee.
In addition, portal fee, GST and other payment gateway charges as applicable will be payable by all candidates.
Only online modes of payment are accepted; bank draft and cheque are not accepted for examination fee.
Local residents of Chhattisgarh who actually appear in the written examination/interview are eligible for refund of examination fee on submission of online refund request within 10 days of exam/interview; portal fee, correction charges, service tax etc. are non-refundable.
Salary/Stipend
Pay scales are as per Chhattisgarh Government pay matrix:
Level-12: Basic pay Rs. 56,100/- per month for posts like Deputy Collector, Deputy Superintendent of Police, State Finance Service Officer, State Tax Assistant Commissioner, Labour Officer, Employment Officer, Assistant Director/District Women & Child Development Officer, District Registrar, Chief Municipal Officer Class ‘B’.
Level-9: Basic pay Rs. 38,100/- per month for posts like Chief Municipal Officer Class ‘C’, Child Development Project Officer, Subordinate Account Service Officer.
Level-8: Basic pay Rs. 35,400/- per month for Nayab Tehsildar.
Level-7: Basic pay Rs. 28,700/- per month for State Tax Inspector, Excise Sub Inspector, Deputy Registrar.
Level-6: Basic pay Rs. 25,300/- per month for Assistant Jail Superintendent.
Other allowances and benefits are admissible as per Chhattisgarh State Government rules applicable to respective services.
Selection Process
Stage 1 – Preliminary Examination (Objective Type): Two papers – General Studies (Paper I) and Aptitude Test (Paper II), each of 200 marks and 2 hours; both with multiple-choice questions and negative marking (1/3 of correct-answer marks for each wrong answer). Paper II (Aptitude) is qualifying; merit for Main Examination shortlisting is based on Paper I (General Studies) marks only; minimum qualifying marks: 33% for unreserved and 23% for reserved categories in each paper.
Stage 2 – Main Examination (Conventional Type): Seven descriptive papers – Language, Essay, General Studies I to V – each of 200 marks and 3 hours; total 1400 marks. All shortlisted candidates must appear in all papers; absence in any paper leads to disqualification.
Stage 3 – Interview/Personality Test: 100 marks; only candidates securing minimum marks in Main Examination as fixed by Commission are called, up to about three times the number of posts; final merit list is prepared based on aggregate of Main Examination (1400) and Interview (100) marks.
Preliminary Examination is only a screening test; marks of Prelims are not counted in final selection. Separate unreserved and reserved lists are prepared as per reservation rules, and supplementary lists up to 25% of main list may also be prepared.

Candidates must apply online only for State Services Preliminary Examination 2025; any manual or postal applications will not be accepted.

After Prelims result, candidates declared qualified for Main Examination must submit a fresh online application for Main Examination within the prescribed dates; failure to do so will lead to cancellation of candidature.
Candidates in Government/PSU/University/other institutional service must obtain and submit No Objection Certificate from competent authority at the time of document verification/interview as per instructions.
