| Description | Chief Engineer Job Summary The Chief Engineer is responsible for providing strategic and technical leadership across all engineering functions of the organization. The role ensures that engineering activities are aligned with business objectives, delivered efficiently, and compliant with applicable quality, safety, and regulatory standards. The Chief Engineer oversees engineering teams, drives innovation, and ensures excellence in project delivery and operational performance. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Strategy Lead and manage the organizations engineering function and technical teams Define engineering strategy, standards, and best practices aligned with business goals Provide technical governance and final authority on engineering decisions Mentor, develop, and evaluate engineering leadership and teams Project & Operations Oversight Oversee planning, execution, and delivery of major projects and engineering programs Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to required quality standards Review and approve designs, technical specifications, and engineering deliverables Resolve complex technical, operational, and resource challenges Quality, Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, safety, and environmental requirements Establish and monitor quality assurance and control systems Promote a strong culture of safety, risk management, and continuous improvement Stakeholder Management Act as the primary technical liaison with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulators Support business development by providing technical inputs for bids, proposals, and negotiations Communicate engineering performance, risks, and progress to senior management Innovation & Continuous Improvement Drive adoption of new technologies, tools, and engineering methodologies Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and efficiency improvements Qualifications & Experience Bachelors degree in Engineering 15+ years of progressive engineering experience, including senior leadership roles Proven experience managing large-scale projects and multidisciplinary teams Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer, or equivalent certification preferred Skills & Competencies Strong technical and strategic leadership capability Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills Commercial and financial acumen Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills Ability to operate effectively at executive and board levels Working Conditions Primarily site-based with office visits as required Travel mandated to sites depending on project and business requirements |
