Patient Care & Clinical Duties Perform admission, transfer, and discharge procedures as per hospital protocol. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and document findings accurately. Administer medications, injections, IV fluids, and treatments following physician orders and nursing guidelines. Monitor vital signs, symptoms, and patient condition; escalate abnormalities promptly. Assist doctors during rounds, procedures, and emergencies. Ensure infection control practices, hand hygiene, and sterilization protocols are strictly followed. Maintain accurate nursing notes, charts, and electronic medical records (EMR). Provide pre- and post-operative care as required. Manage patient safety measures, fall prevention, pressure injury prevention, and pain assessment. 2. Patient & Family Communication Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medication schedules, diet, and discharge instructions. Address patient concerns with empathy and escalate unresolved issues to the Nursing In-charge. Ensure patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality. 3. Coordination & Teamwork Coordinate with doctors, physiotherapists, dieticians, pharmacists, and other healthcare teams. Participate in patient care planning and multidisciplinary meetings. Support junior nurses and nursing assistants; ensure proper delegation of tasks. Assist in proper shift handovers with detailed patient updates. 4. Documentation & Compliance Maintain timely and accurate documentation of all nursing interventions. Record incidents, medication errors, or near-miss events as per policy. Follow NABH standards, safety protocols, and hospital guidelines. Ensure stock management of drugs, consumables, and equipment at ward level. 5. Emergency Response Respond promptly to medical emergencies (Code Blue, Code Red, etc.). Provide basic life support (BLS) and assist in advanced life support as required. Ensure readiness of emergency equipment (crash cart, oxygen cylinders, suction apparatus). 6. Professional Development Participate in in-service training, mandatory programs, and skill-development activities. Maintain updated knowledge of protocols, evidence-based nursing practices, and new procedures. Adhere to ethical nursing standards and professional conduct. Required Skill Sets: 1. Strong clinical skills and knowledge in medical-surgical nursing. 2. Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with healthcare professionals and support patients. 3. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems. 4. Ability to provide patient-centered care and demonstrate empathy and compassion. 5. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to adapt to changing patient conditions. 6. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced healthcare environment. |
